Local TV stations are trying to avoid the Internet's black hole-like event horizon that's been gobbling up the recorded music and printed publications industries. Over half their viewers come from pay-TV services, which are diluting the local stations' significance by adding more and more made-for-pay-TV channels. They're also not carrying the additional channels that local stations are adding as a result of the analog to digital broadcast switchover.
