Guidant to discuss BSX offer; MedLink Int?l acquires CNI

Guidant (Indianapolis), which agreed to be acquired by Johnson & Johnson (J&J; New Brunswick, New Jersey), on Wednesday said its board of directors has agreed to discuss a rival offer from Boston Scientific (Natick, Massachusetts) made on Monday that values the company at nearly $3 billion more than J&J says it is willing to pay.
Guidant said it is prepared to provide information to Boston Scientific and enter into discussions regarding that firm?s $25 billion offer, which was made public on Monday.
