One of the most discouraging experiences for a coach is to watch a pitcher walk the first hitter in an inning and then watch the man come around to score.
Why does this happen so often? Because of problems in the mechanics which lead to lapses of control. The pitcher simply cannot put the ball where he wants - which, on the high school level, is simply the strike zone.
One of the absolutes of pitching is that everything starts with control. Location is more important than velocity, the movement on the ball, or the break on the curveball.
