Thirteen years ago, Eliot Kang's advertising agency was struggling to survive.
Located in a corner space of his father's Manhattan antique store, Mr. Kang's agency stayed in business by buying ad space for companies that could not get beyond the language barrier in dealing with the local Asian-language press.
Today, Mr. Kang presides over Kang & Lee, the nation's largest agency specializing in advertising targeted at Asian-Americans. Last year, the $60 million shop, with offices in Manhattan and Los Angeles, became part of The Leap Group Inc., a publicly traded ethnic advertising and marketing network.
