Saudi Railway Organization (SRO) has awarded an SR 2.7 billion contract for implementing the main rail road linking Riyadh with Qassim.
This was part of the Kingdom's North-South Railway linking the northern mineral belt with Riyadh and the industrial city of Jubail, which will be ready for the freight movement by next year and for passengers' traffic within two years.
The new contract was awarded to a consortium, comprising of two Saudi companies and one Chinese company. Under the contract, the Saudi companies will undertake civil works while the Chinese company will provide steel plates for rail roads.
