The government has approved the construction of a massive water dam in Mwingi North constituency in her efforts to promote irrigation and supply clean water in Ukambani and Tana River regions.

This is part of the ambitious 1000 dams program through which the government intends to revolutionalize irrigation- based agriculture to achieve food security in the country.

Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka made the disclosure Wednesday when he addressed public rallies in Chiampiu and Usueni areas of the constituency, after visiting the proposed site of the facility dubbed the High Grand Falls at Kivuka along river Tana.
