RHONDDA AM Leighton Andrews will run Carwyn Jones's Labour leadership campaign if First Minister Rhodri Morgan sticks with his plan to step down this year, the Western Mail understands.

Mr Andrews had been seen as a potential candidate until he ruled himself out last November.

He gained a reputation as a vigorous campaigner in his 2006 fight to keep a Burberry factory in Treorchy open. Together with Rhondda MP Chris Bryant, he won the "campaigner of the year" ...
