STOUGHTON -- Last March, bluegrass legend Del McCoury stepped away from his microphone at the vintage Stoughton Opera House and stood near the stage's edge. He then performed a gorgeous gospel song without amplification. The moment and the tune clearly moved the sellout crowd of 480 fans, who burst into thunderous applause afterward.
Following the rousing concert, Stoughton Opera House officials - director Bill Brehm and events coordinator Christina Dollhausen - met McCoury backstage. They asked his advice about other acts that may enjoy playing the intimate and ornate venue near Madison.
