This was such a celebration, yellow ribbons just didn't do the trick. Nor did car magnets that professed support for the troops.
When World War II ended and the soldiers came home, it was time to go all out to welcome home what would become known as "The Greatest Generation."
And 19-year-old Ida Wyman was there with her camera, wandering the streets of New York to capture the joy shown in the patriotic signs in storefronts around the city.
The Wisconsin Veterans Museum is showing 18 of Wyman's photographs in an exhibit called "Welcome Home, Boys!" that runs until Oct. 31. The ...
