WHEN he shattered his right arm in a freak mishap in the French Alps last winter, Newton Faulkner was hurt more by the implications than the intense pain.
The dreadlocked singer from Surrey had made his name as a virtuoso guitarist and clever tunesmith, but his injuries were serious enough to put his career in jeopardy.
They were also embarrassing for a 24-year-old whose million-selling debut album Hand Built By Robots had spent a year in the Top 40 and seen the engaging Faulkner hailed as Britain's answer to American surf-dude Jack Johnson.
