In a move underscoring an ever-widening political schism, Gov. Tim Pawlenty skipped a DFL-led summit Tuesday aimed at dissecting Minnesota's worsening budget predicament. Instead, he attended a competing job growth summit nearly 20 miles away.
The governor's move not only distanced him further from DFL legislators -- both sides have been quarreling for months -- but also placed him at increasing odds with moderate Republicans. Two former Republican governors attended the DFL-led summit held at the State Capitol.
