A new scoring system, published in the March issue of the American Journal of Medicine, may help you and your doctor assess your relative risk of colorectal cancer (CRC).
The system is based on a study of 21,581 healthy male doctors followed for 20 years. Among the group, age, alcohol use, smoking status and body-mass index (weight in pounds divided by height in inches squared multiplied by 703) were significant CRC predictors.
