France will undertake a new-generation laser designator technology program, modernize its Rafale simulators and acquire additional helicopter cannons under the country s ambitious fiscal stimulus plan.
The 31 million euro ($45 million) demonstrator, dubbed Mastrid (Multicontext Airborne System for Targeting, Recognition and IDentification), will be derived from the existing Damocles pod and will feature an improved daylight camera and enhanced target detection/identification algorithms as well as a new geolocation function.
