Bolton Valley Resort is turning to wind to cut costs, installing a turbine near its summit that will generate an eighth of the ski area's electricity.
When the 125-foot tower is up and running in mid-November, Bolton will become the first wind turbine in a Vermont ski area, officials said.
"It is a step, a pretty big step for Bolton Valley in terms of adding to our economic sustainability," said Larry Williams, co-owner of the resort. "Energy prices are a big part of our operating costs and this turbine will be a start toward helping to stabilize those costs over time."
