NEW YORK-Improvements in the quality and design of hand-tufted rugs from India are giving new life to the category -- and giving handknotted rugs some serious competition for retail space and consumers' dollars.
While the rug connoisseur still may gravitate to handknotted rugs, a growing number of consumers are finding today's hand-tufted products can not only replicate the traditional designs of knotted, but offer tremendous value, said vendors and retailers selling the Indian-made rugs.
