Kyle Busch snapped his 13-race "slump (to him, one loss is a slump) by leading the final 68 laps of the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Aug. 22. It was his fourth win this year and his first since Richmond in May. He had only two top-10s in the previous 13 races and slipped from fifth to 15th in points.
The win moved him to 13th in points, 34 behind 12th-ranked Matt Kenseth for the final Chase for the Championship spot. Pole winner Mark Martin led 240 laps, finished second and moved from 12th to 10th, with only Atlanta and Richmond remaining before the Chase.
