Mark Shale has been outfitting Gary Chiappetta in suits and sportswear for five years. Now Mr. Chiappetta is giving the retailer a new lookand attempting to revive the venerable Chicago clothier after its second trip to bankruptcy in 15 years.
Mr. Chiappetta, founder and president of brand marketing firm Kaleidoscope Imaging Inc., is among the group of 12 local investors who paid $3 million in cash and took on more than $3 million in debt to acquire Woodridge-based Al Baskin Co., Mark Shale's parent. His partners in Kaleidoscope, Bert Hodapp and Dennis Furniss, are among his co-investors; he declines to name the rest.
