In a sweet development in a recession-soured market, candy from Harry London Chocolates Inc. and baked goods from Cheryl & Co. will be stored in a 200,000-square-foot distribution center that Fannie May Confections Brands Inc. plans to open Oct. 1 in part of the onetime Tops warehouse in Maple Heights.

Fannie May is starting to hire 10 full-time staffers to operate its new warehouse, said Joseph Pititto, vice president of industrial relations for 1-800-Flowers.Com, the Carle Place, N.Y.-based corporate parent of Fannie May, which operates the Harry London and Cheryl & Co. brands.
