Sep 14, 2009 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australia's mid-capitalisation agricultural sector is ripe for consolidation. The acquisition of ABB Grain by Canadian company, Viterra, is likely to stimulate activity. Paul Jensz, of Austock, said that it will take Viterra between 12 and 18 months to integrate ABB. He said that other mid-cap companies need to increase their size or develop niche operations to avoid takeovers.
