Legend of John McCormack to be celebrated in new exhibition
WHEN the great lyric tenor John McCormack said farewell to his last adoring audience in 1938, he wept along with most of those sitting in London's Royal Albert Hall.
For 25 years, the Irishman had captivated and stirred the world with a voice that still endures on scratchy, albeit remastered, digital copies.
Now, to mark the 125th anniversary of his birth, his family have backed a national exhibition celebrating his life and achievements with memorabilia, rare photographs and recordings of his voice.
