EDENTON - Hiller Fahey Byrum Sr., 89, of the 2200 block of Virginia Road, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, in Chowan Hospital.
Mr. Byrum was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Joseph Carroll Sr. and Julia Columbia Wright Byrum. The past president of Byrum Farms Inc., and the former co-owner and operator with the late Walter Lane of Lane-Byrum Corn Milling Co., he served for 35 years on the Chowan County Board of Soil Conservation and received the Governor's Award for that service, was the N.C. Cotton Grower of the Year in 1983, served on the Board of Directors for the Albemarle Cotton Growers Co-op, where he also served as the manager and ginner, ...
