There are two broad categories of wheelhouse displays. The first is a standard monitor purchased from a computer store that costs a few hundred bucks. The other is a high-end, feature-rich display that might be sunlight viewable.
The problem with the first category of display is that it has plastic housings, isn't very stable and doesn't dim enough for night operations. A shortcoming (for most people) of the second group is cost. "It could be between $2,000 and $3,000 dollars," says Steve Schott with Comark Corp.
