SCOTLAND'S drink problem is now so bad that the rate of alcohol-related deaths in the worst-hit area is six times the UK norm.
New figures show that only nine of the 73 Scottish parliament constituencies have below the UK average number of alcohol deaths.
An average of 14.7 of every 100,000 deaths in the United Kingdom are related to drinking.
But Scottish Executive statistics yesterday revealed that Glasgow's Shettleston area has almost six times this figure (574 per cent) - the worst record in Scotland.
