Life was getting back to normal Sunday in the Lake View Terrace area as the smoke and angst of the massive Station Fire pretty much dissipated.
Kathy Simons sat on the grass in the Orcas Park section of Hansen Dam Recreation Area, contentedly watching her three Australian cattle dogs gnaw vigorously at bones. It's a daily ritual for the nearby resident that was disrupted for more than a week.
"It wasn't because I couldn't get here, but because the smoke was horrific," Simons said. "So we just stayed home."
