In this age of low profit margins and cost-cutting strategies, the good news is that food distribution centers generally are achieving higher levels of productivity and seeing more sales per customer than ever before, according to a joint study by Food Distributors International (FDI) and Food Marketing Institute (FMI).
The study - the 1997 Wholesale-Retail Distribution Center Report - compiled by researchers at the Center for Food Marketing of St. Joseph's University, features data supplied by 110 FDI and FMI member company distribution centers.
