The United States Mint announced that the nation will honor Glacier National Park in Montana through its new quarter-dollar coin program. The Glacier design will be the seventh to be featured on coins released under the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Program, and will be issued in 2011.
The park is named for its prominent glacier-carved terrain and remnant glaciers descended from the ice ages of 10,000 years past. Glacial forces, ancient seas, geologic faults and uplifting combined to create some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet.
