PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Jun. 16--One bill would make it easier for casino gambling to gain a foothold in Rhode Island. Two others would make it harder.
A fourth would create a "Rhode Island Casino Gambling Commission" to license and regulate casino operations in the event that another Atlantic City-style gambling proposal makes it to the ballot and voters -- who have repeatedly said no before -- give it their okay.
In all, seven casino-related bills have been scheduled for a public hearing by the Senate Committee on Legislation tomorrow. The time: 2:30 p.m. The place: the Senate Lounge.
