ABANDONED for the day by my wife, the big question was where to take our three children for a grand day out.

For many families run by hardpressed single parents, this is a regular occurrence.

What I was looking for, accordingly, was a place for our children to be safely 'let off the leash'.

Somewhere that would have an educational benefit and not be too expensive in these recessionary times.

I can think of lots of places where I wouldn't want to try to keep three youngsters of different ages fully occupied and ...
