This month, if all goes well, the Library of Congress--that vast repository of artifacts and artwork in Washington, D.C.--will announce possession of Martha Graham's extensive collection of sketchbooks, notated scores, literary notes, films, and memorabilia. "What?" you may exclaim. "Graham was notorious for throwing things out!" Not so. It seems she saved everything--letters, photographs, scraps of paper, books--and for that reason, this large cache contains surprises that cannot be overlooked by future biographers.
