Jun. 13--Pro Air Inc. paid $175,000 it owed the city Friday for overdue fees at Detroit City Airport as part of its effort to close a deal to provide air service to General Motors Corp. and Chrysler Corp.
Pro Air had withheld payment as it haggled with the city over improvements at the airport on Detroit's east side. Craig Belmondo, Pro Air president, said the fees were paid Friday but another $50,000 that the city says it is owed is under discussion.
"What that essentially was was fees owed by Pro Air to the city, per the operating agreement," Belmondo said.
