THE DELHI Police are planning to induct a robocop in their ranks. The Mini Remotely Operated Vehicle ( MROV), which looks like a small robot, will allow the bomb disposal squad ( BDS) to defuse explosives without risking its personnel.
The remote- controlled robot will pick up any object suspected to be an explosive, take it into isolation and defuse it -- minimising the danger not just to the public but also to BDS officials.
" Right now, BDS officials have to pick up the bombs themselves. But once the MROV is purchased, they won't need to risk their lives," said a senior Delhi Police officer.
