Isadora Duncan Dance demonstrates the technique and repertory of the major historical dance figure who broke from ballet tradition to pursue her own vision. Isadora Duncan's performances in the first decades of the twentieth century emphasized freedom, weight, and the flow of movement originating in the solar plexus. Since she refused to be filmed dancing, today's dance viewers and students are dependent upon videos that reconstruct her style and her dances. Fortunately, some of her work has been preserved through the tradition passed down by the Isadorables, the company she trained and adopted as surrogate daughters.
