WITH giant spiders, tall ships and a flock of superlambananas all visiting Liverpool during Capital of Culture year, the 2008 programme has been a hard act to follow.
Core festivals, such as Africa Oy, continue annually, but the number of councilorganised events do not compare to last year.
Two main events have been planned for 2009, building on the success of Capital of Culture experiences such as the Transition closing ceremony, which took place next to the River Mersey and the new canal link.
The first is On the Waterfront, a series of three weekenders based at the Pier Head over the summer, which focus on the themes of art, film and music.
