No oil company has worked as zealously as British Petroleum to "green" its image, show its commitment to develop new energy sources and demonstrate its concern for fragile environments.
Yet, BP Exploration Inc. has agreed to pay the state of Alaska $1.7 million because of inadequate oil spill containment measures at Prudhoe Bay and other facilities, the state announced on Tuesday.
