CHESAPEAKE | The Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority has been awarded a $3.3 million federal grant that will be used to develop green public housing units at Schooner Cove.
The money was obtained through the stimulus program - the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant will be used to redevelop 24 family units at Schooner Cove in Deep Creek, housing authority officials said.
Chesapeake is the only Virginia city to have received one of the energy conservation grants awarded last week.
