Federal-Mogul Corp. did not infringe on the patent of Lydall Thermal/Acoustical Inc. for a flexible insulating shield Federal-Mogul produces, a federal appeals court has ruled.
The U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington upheld a lower-court finding of noninfringement for Federal-Mogul for its ReflectShield 1440, which bears some resemblance to insulation shields that Lydall makes. Both companies are in suburban Detroit.
The shields are mounted in engine compartments or firewalls, providing protection from heat and fire.
