Myers shutting down Ky., N.C. facilities
AKRON, OHIO Myers Industries Inc. is consolidating operations to cut costs, and planning to shut plastics plants in Kentucky and North Carolina by the end of the year.
The materials-handling plant in Shelbyville, Ky., injection molds reusable containers and employs 88 people.
The Reidsville, N.C., plant is a blow molding facility with 70 employees producing a range of parts under Akron-based Myers' automotive and custom business segment.
Production will be transferred to other Myers facilities, the company said in a Sept. 14 press release.
