Article: Carbon tax under review by Chinese authorities, report says.

Several government ministries in China are studying a proposal to tax greenhouse gas emissions starting in 2012, a leading Chinese business daily reported Wednesday.

The report comes a day after Chinese President Hu Jintao pledged to curb the growth of China's carbon dioxide emissions by a "notable margin" by 2020 from their 2005 levels during a UN summit on climate change (OD Sep.23,p1).
