SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 1998--McKesson Corporation (NYSE:MCK) and American Drug Stores, a division of American Stores Company (NYSE:ASC), one of the nation's largest food and drug retailers, announced today that they have signed an agreement to create a broad-based supply management alliance.

Under the new agreement, which has an initial five-year term, McKesson will be the sole supplier of pharmaceuticals to the more than 1,100 drug store and food store pharmacies of American Drug Stores, Inc.
