One of the major questions following Caterpillar's acquisition of Perkins was the response from Perkins' existing OEM customers. That question has begun to be answered as the biggest of member of that group, JCB, Rocester, England, has signed a long-term engine supply agreement with Perkins Engines.
During the initial five-year term of the deal, Perkins said the agreement could potentially involve the supply of more than 25,000 engines annually, from the four- and six-cylinder series 1000 to the 100 series produced by Perkins Shibaura Engines Ltd., the joint-venture with ISM in Japan.
