Columbia/HCA Exodus Alters Landscape
Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock returned to its spot as the most profitable hospital in Arkansas, thanks in part to a decrease in earnings at St. Edward Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith.
According to the hospital's most recent Medicare Cost Report, Baptist Medical Center posted a $15 million profit on $420.2 million in hospital revenue.
However, Baptist's profits were down compared with its previous fiscal year, in which it posted earnings of $18.5 million. However, revenue was up 12 percent during 1996.
