FITCHBURG - It was a special night at Crocker Field for Fitchburg High coach Ray Cosenza, who earned his 150th career victory at Fitchburg as his Red Raiders defeated St. Peter-Marian, 15-6, in a hard-fought game.
In its home opener, Fitchburg improved to 3-0, while the Guardians dropped to 1-2.
Cosenza, the winningest football coach in Fitchburg High history, admitted that he wasn't even aware that he was close to the magic number when the season began. Cosenza spent five years at St. Bernard's and now has a 179-99-1 career mark.
