In all of the alphabet soup that is modern trucking--ATA, EGR, ABS, OBD, EPA, NTSA, etc.--one of the most important is VMRS (Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standards). VMRS is a system more and more fleets are adopting in an effort to develop a uniform accounting system for vehicle maintenance and repair costs.
The genesis of the program goes back to 1970 when a handful of fleets that were members of the old Regular Common Carrier Maintenance Committee (RCCC-MC) felt the time had come to organize the way members would record and use their maintenance information to be able to compare costs between fleets.
