Renaissance Winery's winemaker, Gideon Beinstock, has an increased risk of mildew damage due to the cool, damp spring bestowed by El Nino.
"Rather than take a chance with sometimes ineffective conventional vineyard sprays," shared Beinstock, "we're trying a new revolutionary method of 'biological warfare' by applying another strain of mold that attacks the natural mildew." Thanks to El Nino, he is also preparing for harvest by installing a sorting table so that unevenly ripened grapes can be sorted out by hand before processing if necessary.
