Some 140 persons from wineries, design and other firms associated with wine marketing were on hand for the First Annual Global Wine Package Design Conference held March 2627 in San Francisco.
The conference was organized by Murray J. Lubliner Associates of New York City in association with Wines & Vines.
Vic Motto of Motto, Kryla & Fisher, St. Helena, led off; his topic was "New Era = New Opportunities." He noted sales of premium wines were up 14% in 1997 and that sales of wines priced at $25+ advanced 26%. Total volume rose 4% last year, he said.
He said that, overall, wineries enjoyed record profits and that "super coastal" wines are a hot category. ...
