Penske Logistics will close plant in Albany
Penske Logistics Inc. has told the state Department of Labor it will close its plant on Terminal Street in Albany, cutting 81 jobs.
The plant will shut down Dec. 23, the company said.
Penske spokesman Randy Ryerson on Friday said the company was forced to close the plant after losing a contract with George Weston Bakeries.
Most of the affected workers are truck drivers, while about 10 people are administrative and office workers. The unionized workers, represented by Bakery Workers Local 50, were notified of the layoffs Thursday, Ryerson said.
