With all the Quadricentennial activities going on this year, many Capital Region residents are just now discovering that Albany has a rich Dutch heritage, but I grew up knowing this in my bones.
My aunt became a genealogy buff long before it was fashionable, and traced our family history back to an old Dutchman who came from Breukelen, the original Brooklyn, in 1634 on one of the Dutch West India Co.'s ships.
