In the latest glitch in the federal stimulus program, Onondaga County had to wait for weeks before it could touch any of the $731,000 it received to help pay for child care.
The glitch was finally cleared Friday after U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., intervened and asked federal officials to clear a bureaucratic hurdle.
The problem occurred when the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services failed to provide spending and reporting guidelines for counties that received the money through the $787 billion federal stimulus program, Gillibrand said.
