Q: I've got a fire extinguisher that hasn't been used, but it's past its expiration date. Do I have to get a new one or can I have someone fix the old one? If so, can firefighters do that?
A: The answer comes from Bill Mace of the Seattle Fire Department's Public Education Section:
"An expired fire extinguisher should be replaced," said Bill Mace of the Seattle Fire Department's Public Education Section. "Some fire extinguishers are disposable - they are made to be used one time and others can be recharged and used over and over.
