IT'S HARDLY STOP-THE-PRESSES NEWS: The value of stocks owned by Arkansans is .lower this year.
Every year, Arkansas Business sorts through proxy statements and Forms 3, 4 and 5 filed with the Securities & Exchange Commission to create its list of the state's top stockholders. The list is ranked by the value of publicly disclosed stockholdings in excess of $1 million, based on closing prices as of Friday, Aug. 14. The SEC requires disclosure by officers, directors and any person or entity that owns at least 5 percent of the outstanding shares of any company.
The fortunes on the list are, almost without exception, smaller than they were on Aug. 15, 2008, ...
